TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF BASS CLUBS (TABC)

TABC NEWS

After 53 years of exemplary service, TABC has arrived at the difficult decision to disband as a 501c3 organization.

The money currently raised by TABC was donated to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Inland Fisheries Division.

Below is the response that TABC received for the two donations.

To TABC,

On behalf of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Inland Fisheries Division and Texas’ 2.7 million resident freshwater anglers, we offer our sincere appreciation to the Texas Association of Bass Clubs (TABC) for over a half-century of steadfast commitment to the preservation, conservation, and enhancement of Texas fisheries resources. Since TABC’s charter was established in 1971, your organization has been a force for the betterment of fisheries resources for current and future generations of Texas anglers. Through TABC’s strategic, meaningful, and stalwart efforts, Texas public waters have benefitted substantially from improvements in angler access, fish habitat, aquatic plant management, black bass management, and fish hatchery production and stocking (just to name a few). Your support and engagement of veterans and youth in fishing have also been incredibly impactful.

After 53 years of exemplary service, I understand TABC has arrived at the difficult decision to disband your 501c3 organization. The generational impacts of TABC have truly been remarkable and inspirational, and although it’s disappointing to lose such a highly engaged stakeholder and partner, we offer our sincere respect, admiration, and gratitude for all you’ve done.

Keeping with this theme of generational impacts, you reached out to discuss the opportunity to make a final financial donation toward improving Texas freshwater fisheries resources. I understand your board decided to make donations to support the Toyota ShareLunker Program and another donation to support summer internships in the TPWD Inland Fisheries Division. These donations will be put to good use in continuing to make bass fishing bigger and better in Texas and in preparing our next generation of fisheries biologists.

Thank you again to TABC for these donations and for all you’ve done in support of our shared mission over the past 53 years. TABC leaves behind a legacy that will continue to benefit generations of Texas anglers.

Sincerely,

Tim Birdsong
